History of BANDECA
From a grassroots community initiative to a recognized national and international organization.
The Bali Nyonga Development and Cultural Association (BANDECA) is the umbrella body for all sons and daughters of Bali Nyonga — a sub-division in the Mezam Division of Cameroon's North West Region. Known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, Bali Nyonga is home to a diverse and resilient population that cherishes its traditions as well as its progress.
Establishment of BANDECA
BANDECA was established to address the developmental and cultural needs of the Bali Nyonga people. The Association was born from a vision to unite the diverse Bali Nyonga community, preserve our rich cultural heritage, and create sustainable development opportunities for all our people.
First Community Development Project
BANDECA focused on small community projects and cultural preservation efforts. The first community development project launched in education, bringing resources and opportunities to children and youth in Bali Nyonga. These early initiatives laid the foundation for a comprehensive approach to community development.
Health Initiatives & Economic Empowerment
BANDECA introduced health initiatives focused on preventive care and improving access to healthcare for community members. Alongside this, economic empowerment programs were launched to support local entrepreneurs and sustainable agriculture initiatives.
Cultural Preservation & Digital Archives
Formal cultural preservation efforts began, including the development of digital archives and the organization of traditional events. Documenting Mungaka language, oral traditions, and ceremonial practices became a cornerstone of the Association's work.
Growth Across Cameroon
BANDECA grew from a local initiative to a recognized organization with Divisional Councils established in Yaoundé, Douala, Bamenda, Buea, Bafoussam, and other major Cameroonian cities — each serving the Bali Nyonga community in their region.
National & International Presence
BANDECA now has Divisional Councils across Cameroon and Specialized Groups internationally — including BCA USA, BCA UK, BCA Germany, BCA UAE, BCA Finland, Bansa Network, Nkumu Fed Fed, and Nseni Women. Under the patronage of His Majesty Dr. Doh Ganyonga III and the leadership of President General Ba Sama Fohtung Samuel Tangang, BANDECA continues to evolve while staying true to its founding principles.
